About the Festival

In 1982, Geochang held its first county-wide festival to share happiness, express gratitude for a year's hard work, celebrate the harvest and foster unity among people. Until 2011, independent events such as Citizen's Day, Arim Art Festival, County Sports Competition, Lifelong Learning Festival, Green Barn Agricultural Festival and the Geochang-Han-Geochang Apple Marathon were held at different times. In 2012, with the establishment of the official Geochang Citizen's Day Ordinance, these festivities were consolidated under the name "Geochang Hanmadang Festival."

The festival starts with a Citizens' Day ceremony and includes events such as the County Sports Competition, Arim Arts Festival, Lifelong Learning Festival, Green Barn Geochang Agricultural Festival, Changpowon Bike Tour Picnic, National Geochang Hometown Sports Competition and Multicultural Family Festival. Additional events include a street parade, Kids Land Festival, Multimedia Water Show, Geochang Night Market, Food Truck Festival and a Youth Zone.

The festival includes an opening and closing ceremony, official performances from Korea and abroad, competition performances, fringe performances, academic events, and various hands-on experiences and exhibitions.
